When the full scale invasion began, this family left to seek protection and refuge. As time passed, they made a decision to return home. Just before they began the move back, a close relative highly recommended that they wait a little longer. It was still dangerous. They took the advice, and it was a good thing they did. The next day, fighter jets flew over their village. They bombed the local school and the impact caused destruction to their home.
Finally, they decided it had been long enough being away from their home. They returned and found their home destroyed, but their barn was in 'okay' condition. A family of 7 people living in a small barn. Just imagine how uncomfortable that would be.
Fast forward to June 2nd of this year. We had the privilege of building a home for them. They are a wonderful family and we were honoured to have met them and bring hope.
Here is what a father of three said when I asked him why he decided to take this step and follow Jesus: “I just couldn’t choose any other way. At first I was skeptical when I saw the team on my property. But over the 3 days they were here, I talked with them and just observed the way they responded to each other and how they work. Through their work and attitude it became clear to me that God is real and I wanted to have the same kind of relationship with Him. My wife and kids also followed me and we know that we are not alone now. We have God who is protecting us and is always with us."
After World War 2, Anya came to the village in which we were building homes through a refugee program. She has 2 children and 2 grandchildren. All 4 are currently serving in the military. Her granddaughter is a medic and her grandson fights on the frontlines. Anya's son has actually been fighting since the war began in 2014, so he has a longer history of military life. Unfortunately, her house was destroyed in an air attack, so she has been living in her daughter's house for the time being.
Now we are happy to announce she has been given a new home and a hope to know that she is not alone during war. We care for her and we know others do too. They have given their time and resources to provide a home for her.
We still need finances and teams for our next waves,
especially the September 8-15 wave.
Can you COME and make a difference?
Can you GIVE a little more?
We need you!
